Default Roethlisberger Not Charged

Anyone else watch the press conference by the Ocmulgee Count DA? This guy is hysterical! I am having more fun listening to him talk and how he pronounces things. Awesomeness!

Anyways, Roethlisberger is not being charged because their isn't enough evidence. So how do you guys think this affects Big Bens career? Is he going to stay in Pitt or are they gonna ship him off like they did with Holmes? Remember, this is the 2nd such case against Roethlisberger.

The Holmes trade was a warning to Roethlisberger, he has 2 strikes one more and I think he is gone (not counting the motorcycle incident).

He is scheduled to meet with Goodell, will be interesting to see what happens there as well. ESPN analysts are saying he will put in the Substance Abuse Program at least.

He should look at Brady's game tapes and try to learn to be a real QB

Holmes was guilty, Roth is not. Had there been solid evidence backing this woman's claim the Rooney's would have dropped him in a second (as evidenced by Holmes).

I highly doubt Big Ben is guilty it is probably just another case of a man liking to screw whatever moves. Like the Kobe case it is probably just another girl the Roth had sex with (out of many) and this one saw it as an opportunity to yell rape and get money and attention. Once the process became too stressful she moved on and didn't want anything to do with it.

Roethleisberger is the victim here.

There is a pattern here and Ben is no victim.

She more than likely consented to having sex with him that night and later harassed him and wrongfully accused him of sexually assaulting her. He is the victim.

The DA's statement: Asked at Monday's news conference whether the lack of sufficient evidence would leave a bad taste in his mouth, Bright said everyone could be criticized for their actions and there was too much drinking that night.

Then he spoke directly to Roethlisberger.

"If he were my son, the best way I can answer that is, ‘Ben, grow up. Come on, you're supposed to stand for something. I mean, you're the leader. You should be a role model. You don't need to put yourself in this position anymore.' ...

"It is unclear, it is foggy, what exactly happened in that bathroom, but if I was there coaching him I'd say, ‘Ben, you don't need to do this. You don't need to put yourself in a position when you're alone in this dingy bathroom with you and this girl. That's foolish. Grow up. You need to be a role model. You need to be a role model for your team, your city, the NFL. You can do better.'

"And I hope he's learned something from this. I really do."

Simply quoting people and not going into what they are saying is a bad way to convey your argument. Who is to say that sports players should be our role models anyway? They continue to disappoint people such as Tiger Woods and Kobe O'Bryant regardless of if they are guilty or not. Real role models are people closer to home such as your parents and teachers. We should stop looking at sports players as role models and constantly saying "Come on be a role model" because they aren't asking for it, they are just living their lives.

Like Tiger Woods it is apparent that Roethlisberger loves woman and likes to have fun. Can you blame them? How many men here don't like sex? There is a big deal when someone famous gets caught with their pants down (no pun intended) but do we hear it on the news when you are?

There is not sufficient evidence proving him guilty of anything and in America you are innocent till proven guilty, therefore Roethlisberger just got drunk one night and had sex. This is similar to what many college students do on the weekend. You may recall the OJ Simpson murder case. While many people think OJ was guilty he was proven innocent and whether or not you like it OJ is innocent and unless they find new evidence against him he will remain innocent. There is no evidence against Roeth so how can you say he is being a bad role model? He is just another person having sex.

I think we need to stop pointing fingers at people for being bad role models and choose our role models more wisely. I don't believe he asked to be a role model so don't expect him to be an angel 24/7 because humans aren't perfect and we all have our faults.

Love of women gives you no right to act as he does. The apparent thing is that he has a problem with good judgment and alcohol problem, not a good combination. There is no defending that sort of behavior in anyone. He wasn't found innocent, he was just not charged. I think the Rooney family and the NFL might like him to act more like an adult and not an adolescent.

While they may wish him to act one way it isn't up to them. How can you say he has an alcohol problem? Do you go to college and if so do you get drunk on the weekends? If you say no that's fine but I would say a majority of college students do get drunk on the weekends and many of them have sex. This is why we are taught sex education in high school and often see flyers around campus saying to use condoms and such and be safe. You can't say he is out of control based on this.

It is no secret that alcohol impairs judgment so obviously he may not have used good judgment but to say he has an alcohol problem is absurd.

Your trying to defend the indefensible. I did say he was acting like an adolescent and not a 28 year old man with high profile job. My guess is he will get a 6 game suspension.

EDIT: Should have placed a bet with Vegas on this guess.

6 game suspension for what? He didn't do anything wrong.

Get real.

They are saying that he will be suspended at least 1 game and that will be by the Steelers, not the league. I doubt the league will give him much more.

I'm trying very hard not to make an OJ trial joke here.

Considering this is the second time something like this has happened, chances are it's happened more often in the past and we haven't heard about it or that it'll probably happen again in the future.

It's always possible. However it's also possible that he did it and there just wasn't enough evidence.
